Dr. Nardin Samuel

Title: The Future of Digital Biomarkers in Neurology: Clinical Trials and Practice
Biography
Dr. Nardin Samuel, MD, PhD is a neurology resident, physician-researcher, and educator with expertise in neuroscience, neuromodulation, and brain network mapping. She earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine’s combined MD/PhD Program, where she pursued translational research on cancer susceptibility, genetics and epigenetics. She then completed a post-doctoral research fellowship during residency through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Clinician-Investigator Program (CIP). Her clinical and research focus is on complex neurological disorders and the application of advanced neuroimaging and EEG analytics to improve diagnostics and treatments. She has published over 60 peer-reviewed research articles in neurology and neuroscience, focusing on neurophysiological biomarkers, brain network dynamics, and AI applications in diagnostic neurology.
During her post-doctoral training, Dr. Samuel established Cove Neurosciences Inc., a software venture leading the development advanced analytic tools for brain data analysis, enabling personalized approaches to psychiatric and neurological care. Beyond research and clinical work, Dr. Samuel is committed to medical education and mentorship. She developed the Medical Innovation in Technology Course at the University of Toronto, designed to equip physicians with expertise in AI applications and medical entrepreneurship. She serves as a lecturer and course coordinator in the Faculty of Medicine, mentoring undergraduate and graduate trainees interested in neurology and neuroscience research. Her work continues to advance the field of neurology through research, clinical innovation, and education, shaping the future of brain health and personalized medicine.
Dr. Samuel’s contributions have earned her multiple awards, including the 2023 Leadership Award from the Women Empowerment Awards and recognition as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by WXN.
